The Location: This 7.1 Home Theater system was designed and installed in the Firewheel Estates subdivision in Garland, Texas.
The Challenge: Our customers bought their home with an upstairs media room that was wired for 7.1 surround sound, and they were interested in our basic 7.1 Home Theater system package to finish it out. This room was the perfect size for a home theater system with a 100" screen.
Our Solution: Since this upstairs home theater room was already prewired for 7.1 surround, we began with installing (3) three front in-wall speakers, (2) two rear in-wall surround speakers, (2) two side in-wall surrounds, and a powered 10" subwoofer. We also wired a 35ft premium HDMI cable to the projector location for full 1080p HD capabilities.
The room was already painted, and the homeowners bought (7) seven premium leather Theater Seats, that really transformed the room from an ordinary room and gave it that finished "home theater" look and feel. Next we began installing the Home Theater projector, theater screen, and the components.
The Equipment: We installed a premium Chief in-ceiling projector mount with an 12" drop pole to get the picture below the ceiling fan. We installed a Mitsubishi 1080p HD Projector, with 1300 lumens and a 110" home theater screen from Vutec, with a black velvet frame and a matte white finish with 1.1 gain.
For the 7.1 home theater surround sound, we installed (3) three Proficient 100w in-wall LCR speakers for the left, right, and center channels. These in-wall speakers have dual 5 1/4", and they can be mounted both vertically or horizontally and fit easily into a standard stud bay.
To complete the 7.1 surround effects, we also installed (2) two Proficient 80w in-wall speakers for the side surround, (2) two Proficient 80w in-wall speakers for the rear-surround, and a Polk 10" powered subwoofer in the rear right corner.
Finally, to power the audio system we installed a Pioneer 7.1 AV receiver, with 110w per channel, Apple's airplay, wireless and bluetooth capabilities, 3D ready technology and true HD upconversion.
For source components, we installed a Pioneer Blu-Ray player and an DirecTV satellite receiver.
